Back off badgers
The Government is considering killing badgers to control the disease in cattle, bovine tb. We need your help to stop this.
Following the general election in May the country now has a new coalition government, which has been setting out what its priorities will be on a number of areas over the next twelve months. Sign up to hear about key animal issues as they happen.

1. Hunting - The RSPCA is opposed to hunting with dogs and believes the hunted animal experiences considerable suffering. The RSPCA therefore fully supports the Hunting Act 2004 and does not want a repeal.
2. Badger cull - The Government has announced that it may undertake a badger cull to control the disease of bovine tb in cattle. The RSPCA opposes culling as the scientific evidence suggests that the culling of badgers has only a limited benefit on the disease.
3. Dangerous dogs - We are currently working with the police and local authorities to ensure effective enforcement of existing dog control legislation and to educate local communities about responsible dog ownership.
4. Dog licensing – We believe that the reintroduction of a dog licence would improve responsible dog ownership and fund the costs incurred by poor dog ownership such as from dog bites and stray dogs.
5. Circuses - Before the election, a consultation was carried out on the use of wild animals in circuses. Ninety four per cent of respondents agreed that the Government should pursue a ban on wild animals in circuses.
