A BBC documentary – Pedigree dogs exposed – highlights the high levels of disability, deformity and hereditary disease affecting pedigree dogs because of the way they have been bred primarily for appearance.
The RSPCA believes that the health, welfare and temperament of both parents and their offspring should be the key priorities when selecting which dogs to breed from.
